SUMMARY  

Perform various cleaning duties as assigned to schools as needed and in accordance with school health & safety standards, Operations Director’s standards, and standards established by the Superintendent as needed.  Assists with the turnover of BUSD Housing units.  Maintains the grounds of housing facilities.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

One year of custodial experience

High school diploma or GED certificate.

Reliable mode of transportation.

Valid Driver’s License.

Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment, tools, and supplies used in custodial/grounds work.

Must be able to work independently.

Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities. 

Any equivalent combination of experience or training.

Basic knowledge of computer use. (Internet, email, etc.)

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE

FBI fingerprint background check

Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), proof of MMR immunization

Valid Driver’s License required within 30 days of hire

MVD report

Must obtain steel/composite toe boots within 4-6 weeks of hire

Overtime, working weekends, holidays, after-hours special events, and on-call duties are mandatory if assigned.

MENTAL TASKS:

Performs functions from oral and written instructions. Evaluates/comprehends written materials. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Must have good communication skills (oral and written). 

 

PHYSICAL TASKS:

Work involves the performance of duties where considerable physical exertion is required as a normal part of the job. Assistance is available to perform unusually physically demanding tasks. Work may involve lifting and carrying objects weighing as much as 50 pounds as a regular part of the job.  May require occasional lifting of weights up to 75 pounds. Considerable walking, climbing, stooping, bending, and reaching for extended periods may be required as a normal part of the job.  Employees may have minor restrictions of motion; however, the restrictions must not prohibit the performance of assigned duties.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.  Verbal communicative ability may be required in public contact positions.

Operates power-driven machinery, Basic hand tools, Operate power tools.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Indoors. Outdoors. Contact with employees and students. Exposure to chemicals. All weather conditions/temperatures. Exposure to noise, fumes, and dust.
