SUMMARY

Assist teachers in the Prekindergarten classroom with daily instructional activities and monitoring student behavior.

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • An Associate’s degree or higher, or 60 semester hours of coursework documented on an official transcript from an accredited institution of higher education; or
  • Obtain a passing score from the Arizona Paraprofessional Assessments (ie. ETS Para Pro, or Master Teacher’s Para Educator Learning Network). Must provide a copy of the certificate; and
  • FBI fingerprint check required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

THE LIST OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS IS NOT EXHAUSTIVE AND MAY BE SUPPLEMENTED.

  • Assists ESS students on field trips.
  • Assists teacher in routine classroom operations.
  • Prepares planned instructional materials. Prepares class and student documentation.
  • Supervises student involved in non classroom activities: recess, lunch, etc.
  • Implements/follow teachers' instructions of classroom procedures and classroom management; reinforcement, philosophy, and consistency.
  • Makes appropriate referrals when difficulties arise and the teacher is not readily available.
  • Assists with clerical duties, inventory, bulletin boards, and etc.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of student needs, keeps a firm hand yet is courteous.

Ability to work with students with disabilities such as learning, emotional, mental and physical disabilities. Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all the school district requirements and Board of Education policies

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work involves the performance of duties where physical is required only to supplement normal sedentary work.  Assistance is available in the event heavy physical exertion is required.  Work may involve occasional lifting and carrying weights up to 25 pounds or assisting in moving or lifting children or adults.  Moderate walking, stooping, bending, reaching and sitting for extended periods may be required as a normal part of the job. Visual weakness must not prohibit the performance of assigned duties.

 

EQUIPMENT, AIDS, TOOLS, MATERIALS

Utilize office equipment such as computers/mobile learning devices, telephones, printers, and copiers, etc. Some medical equipment.

Indoors. Classroom or campus setting, ie. Playground, lunchroom, gym, etc. Occasionally outdoors. Contact with students, staff, and parents. Noise level may be loud. Employee is frequently exposed to infection at a greater risk than the average employee. The employee may be required to meet multiple demands from several people.
