SUMMARY

This full-time position will work with and support the Office of the Assistant Superintendent to help brand the district through various media, data, and communication methods. Communication platforms include written works, video/audio, and social media. Serve as a data support specialist.  Plans, controls and manages data as a resource in support of BUSD integrated student data management system. Assists departments/ schools with audit reports and assists in reconciling data entry discrepancies.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Must have a current and valid IVP card. Must have a valid driver’s license, and provide a copy of driver record at own expense as well as provide current vehicle insurance. Must have a documented history of positive relationship building with students and families. Must be willing to work outside contracted hours to build a positive and safe relationship with the local community.

 

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, Computer Science, Public Relations, Business Administration and One-year related experience required;

 

OR

 

Two years’ experience in any combination of media relations, public relations, public information, and/or experience with social media, newsletter writing, or customer relations.

Experience in digital marketing.

Experience with videography and video editing

Verbal and written communication skills in both English and Tohono O’odham languages.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

THE LIST OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS IS NOT EXHAUSTIVE AND MAY BE SUPPLEMENTED.

  • Creates and publishes video and print materials for all events around the district.
  • Designs, develops, and uploads electronic files for print, outdoor, and specialty advertising.
  • Produces broadcast-quality HD/SD videos from camera to final product.
  • Utilizes desktop publishing and computer-aided design applications
  • Supports the district in taking videos and photos of students, staff, and all other stakeholders to post to our social media as well as ensure all release documentation is in order before publishing.
  • Works with all schools and departments, consistently, to learn of all the possible marketing opportunities to brand our district.
  • Works with District Administration to take guidance on all materials needed to brand the district.
  • Assists with all public relations.
  • Assists with specialized clerical functions and special projects.
  • Produces District Newsletter.
  • Ability to work hours outside of the normal office hours, including some evenings and weekends
  • Requires frequent contact with students, parents, faculty, staff and community
  • Monitor and analyzes State policies and procedures for State and Federal reporting to ensure the District maintains information systems that are compliant with policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates data reconciliation for Student Accountability Information Systems (SAIS) with District sites.
  • Coordinates with District sites/departments and Arizona Department of Education programmers to ensure information systems are accurately reporting student data.
  • Develops and/or coordinates SAIS training for school sites and monitors the trainers to provide technical and procedural training to district sites and departments.
  • Coordinates the exchange of information with Federal, State and other external agencies.
  • Microsoft office/Google/Apple product knowledge
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent; Accreditation

MENTAL TASKS

Communicates. Reads. Comprehends. Performs functions from written and oral instructions from observing and listening to others.

 

PHYSICAL TASKS

Work involves the performance of duties where physical exertion may be required to perform all aspects of the job. Work requires moving from one location to another, reaching, stooping, bending, and holding and grasping objects.  Work may involve occasional lifting and carrying weights up to 25 pounds. Visual weakness must not prohibit the performance of assigned duties.

 

EQUIPMENT, AIDS, TOOLS, MATERIALS

Uses office equipment such as telephone, computer, printer, calculator, copier, camera, and audio/video equipment.  Can use computer-aided design applications without support.  Operates a motor vehicle.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Indoor. Outdoor environment. Exposure to noise. Contact, with employees, students, and the public. Driving to and from sites to capture video/photos.
