Description

SUMMARYPerforms maintenance and repairs to District equipment and facilities.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  Two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Current AZ. Driver’s License, must not have accrued six points within the last two years.   FBI fingerprint background check after hire.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

THE LIST OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS IS NOT EXHAUSTIVE AND MAY BE SUPPLEMENTED.

  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine repair of plumbing systems, including replacing fixtures, fixing water lines, unclogging toilets, and snaking drains
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine repair of heaters and air conditioning units, including replacing belts, motors, relays, thermostats, pumps, fuses, transformers, filters and fans
  • Replace electrical outlets, light fixtures, ballasts, install time clocks for lights, and check photo cells on lights
  • Move equipment and furniture
  • Perform minor repairs to shelves and furniture, and build simple fixtures, ie. coat racks
  • Check motors throughout the district
  • Paint furniture and rooms
  • May perform routine grounds maintenance, such as mowing and fertilizing grass, striping, and maintaining fields
  • Operates power tools, tractor, and dump truck
  • Basic repair of power tools and equipment utilized by the district

Repairs and maintains:

  • evaporative coolers
  • thermostats
  • light fixtures
  • light switches
  • electrical control panels
  • doors and locks
  • closets
  • windows
  • plumbing fixtures
  • water lines
  • roofs
  • painting
  • playground equipment
  • irrigation systems 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 

  

PHYSICAL TASKS

Work involves the performance of duties where considerable physical exertion is required as a normal part of the job. Assistance is normally available to perform unusually physically demanding tasks. Work may involve lifting and carrying objects weighing as much as 75 pounds up to 50 yards as a regular part of the job. Climbing, stooping, bending, reaching, walking and sitting for extended periods of time may be required as a normal part of the job. Employees must not have any Limitations of motion, and vision and hearing should be rated as acceptable to obtain the required driver's license. Verbal communicative ability may be required of public contact positions.

 

WORK CONDITIONS:

Outdoor and indoor environment. Exposure to noise. Contact with employees, students, and the public. Exposure to hazardous, noxious substances and fumes. Exposure to low, medium, and high voltage electrical current.
